Everything You Need to Know About Oscar’s Grind Roulette Strategy

Last updated: 05.04.2024 by Andrew Shepard

Nowadays, there are numerous roulette systems out there for players to test. Oscar’s Grind is one of them,l but it isn’t the most popular one. Oscar’s Grind strategy is a bit more complicated than other roulette strategies, and this is why there are not many beginners who know it. This system is actually based on small profits at every turn and not on high risks and huge winnings.

If you want to learn something about Oscar’s Grind system history, the first time we ever heard about this strategy was in “The Casino Gambler’s Guide” book by Allan Wilson. That’s why many people date this strategy back to 1965.

For those who don’t know, Oscar's Grind strategy is a roulette system that focuses on streaks. Place smaller amounts when you are on a losing streak and bet higher amounts during winning streaks.

How You Can Put in Motion The Oscar’s Grind System

As we said above, Oscar’s Grind system is a bit complicated but do not worry, as we will now unfold it as easily as we can the betting strategy. Let’s find out how this roulette system works:

  • Even-money outside bets are where our system bets (Red/Black, High/Low, and Even/Odd)
  • Pick one of the above bets and wager an amount of 1 unit.
  • Now, if a spin results in a loss, you don’t change the amount you bet and you continue the session by repeating the same amount you bet before.
  • However, for every winning spin, you have to increase the bet amount by 1 unit.
  • Oscar’s Grind system is a strategy of 1 unit profit. The process of the whole system is to gain 1 unit in every session. This means that if you face a turn that you should place, for example, 6 units, but this could result in 3 unit profit, you have to lower your bet to 4 units.

If you are a beginner in roulette strategies, you are now probably a little bit confused. Let’s clarify every detail with this chart.

Oscar’s Grind system

Well, there are few professional players who compare this system to the Paroli strategy and others who say that Oscar’s Grind is very similar to the Contra Bet system. However, any additional modification may occur to less risk and more consistency.

In addition, there are a few players who say that this roulette strategy would work better if the player started a new session after a 5-loss streak. As we know that many of you now want to see if this system works in reality, let’s create a course of 10 factional spins.

Bet Amount (Units)Spin ResultTotal ProfitPlayer’s Move

1Loss−2Repeat the bet with the same amount
1Loss−3Repeat the bet with the same amount

1Win−4Increase the bet amount to 2 units
2Loss−6Repeat the bet of units
2Win−4Increase the bet amount to 3 units
3Win−1You now only have to bet 2 units to gain the profit we want

How Oscar’s Grind System Performs in Tests

If you have read other roulette strategy reviews from us in the past, you know that it is time to see how Oscar’s Grind system performs in the long run. For this test, we use a Google Sheets tool to simulate the outcomes of 500 consecutive rounds.

We put four different players in this test, and everyone will start his session with a starting balance of £1.000. Let’s see how our players perform in 500 rounds.

Putting Oscar’s Grind to the Test

There are not many roulette strategies that can say that they end up with a profit in all four players. The largest profit we come across in this test is the £120 of players number 1.

On the other hand, the smallest profit was £74, and it was from player number 3. As you can see, the system proves to perform really great in the long run.

Of course, player 2 had a really bouncy session, and this happened because he didn’t manage to start a new cycle until the 194th round. To make a long story short: Player number 2 had to go up to £64 bet amount, which caused a really dynamic reaction. However, as you can see on the chart above, even player number 2 was able to recover the loss streak and ended the 500 rounds simulation with a profit.

The Drawbacks of Oscar’s Grind

The biggest disadvantage of the Oscar's Grind roulette system can be found in the simulation of player number 2. This disadvantage can put you in situations where you need to increase your bet amount due to a large betting cycle.

This means that your bankroll will be subject to dynamic fluctuations during a large betting cycle. Of course, if you start your session with a good bankroll, you'll reduce the risks and will not have to worry about how quickly you will turn this around.

Wrap-Up

It is very obvious that Oscar’s Grind system stands out from other well-known roulette strategies. Oscar’s Grind system’s success comes to the 1 unit profit goal. You see, in roulette, the most successful strategies are those that aim to short-run and realistic goals.

If someone wants to categorize Oscar’s Grind strategy, then we would put it to the low-risk strategies. Of course, there isn’t even one roulette strategy that doesn’t have at least a small risk. However, if a player sticks to the 1 unit profit goal, he could end up winning some money with this system.

Of course, as you already see it above, Oscar’s Grind system performs great in the long run. With this roulette strategy, you may not end up with winning a massive amount of money, but you won’t damage your bankroll either. In other words, this is a grind system.

Your new strategy is waiting to be tested - play roulette for real!
