Pragmatic Play is a relatively new name in the live casino games industry but has managed to grow its portfolio considerably in a short time. Released in February 2021, Mega Roulette is one of the studio's first games and is still very popular. A variant of European roulette, it offers multiplier payouts (up to 500x) and supports 100+ currencies & 20 different UI languages. The game is developed with HTML5 and has a special vertical interface for mobile devices. It works well even on slow connection speeds as it uses low-streaming latency.

Pragmatic Play is a studio licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and has multiple EGR, SBC, and SIGMA awards. Almost all its live roulette games use the same interface, and this is also true for Mega Roulette. There is nothing but an auto-rotating wheel in the middle of the screen. The host is only there to announce the multiplier numbers and game results. The studio uses green screen technology, so both lucky numbers and other important information are projected onto the background in real-time. However, the design has no special theme. All betting options (roulette table) and important buttons are placed at the bottom of the interface.

Main Features of Mega Roulette

This is a game created to compete with Evolution's Lightning Roulette, so it has pretty similar gameplay. Players have 20 seconds to place a bet, after which the wheel starts spinning automatically. Shortly after the spin starts, up to five random numbers are chosen, and each is assigned a random multiplier value (between 50x – 500x). The lucky numbers are displayed in the background, along with their multipliers.

So, what does this mean? Each of these numbers represents a straight bet, and if you placed a bet on one of them, you qualify for the "mega payout". If you win your bet, the multiplier will be added to the payout. For example, let's say you bet on “red 7”, that number is chosen and gets a multiplier of 100x. If you win, the payout of this bet will be multiplied by 100.

Like other live roulette bets with multipliers, the payout of the straight bet is slightly lower in Mega Roulette too. This bet pays 29:1 instead of 35:1. For the same reason, Mega Roulette's RTP for the straight bet is 96.50%, not 97.30%. The payouts and RTPs of the other bets are the same as in classic European roulette (97.30% RTP + 2.70% house edge), but for straight bets, a higher house edge applies (due to multipliers). Other notable features of Mega Roulette are:

  • Racetrack bets: You can place bets on Tiers, Orphelins, Voisins, and 0 Game. Note that you cannot win multipliers with racetrack bets, as there are no straight bets in this section.
  • Mega Bets: An option you can use to place bulk straight bets. For example, you don't have to click on all the red numbers one by one: this feature will place a chip on all of them with one click.
  • Autoplay: A feature that allows you to automatically participate in new rounds using the same bet and wager.
  • Statistics: There is a screen showing the results of the last 500 spins. Here you can see the hot/cold numbers and place new bets from the same screen.
  • Real-Time Chat: You can chat (via text messages) with other players and the host.

Betting Limits

0,10 – 5,000 is the most common betting range we have seen for Mega Roulette, but remember that every casino is free to set its own min/max range. You can find casinos with lower or higher limits. For the same reason, check the paytable first before joining a game.

Tips for Mega Roulette by Pragmatic

  • Remember that only straight bets offer multipliers

No inside or outside bets will pay multipliers, except for the straight bets (single number). So don't expect to make a dozen/column or red/black bet and win multiplier payouts. For this reason, placing multiple straight bets may be the best strategy you can use. For example, you can place 18 different straight bets by placing a chip on all-black numbers. The more straight numbers you can cover on the table, the better, but be careful not to go over your budget.

  • Don’t focus on 500x

The ability to pay up to 500x is the selling point of the game, but keep in mind that this is the maximum limit of a wide range. Mega Roulette can choose any multiplier value between 50x and 500x. Since this selection is completely random, you cannot be sure which number you will see on the screen. 50 – 500 is a pretty wide range, and for the same reason, 500x won't be something you'll see very often. Don't strategize on this maximum value and don't put too much hope on it. Note that even if you see 500x on the screen, you must still have bet on the correct number and you must win that bet.

  • Don't use Martingale as your main strategy

Martingale asks you to double your bet after every loss. In a game like Mega Roulette, this strategy can be ineffective and will quickly cut your budget. Since there are multipliers in Mega roulette, and to get them, you need to cover the table with as many lines as possible, and in the case of additional bets using the progressive martingale strategy, you will most likely run out of money very quickly. So, be careful.

  • Do not try to predict multipliers

The multipliers in Mega Roulette are randomly generated and there is no way to predict which numbers will be chosen. In summary, trying to predict multipliers in Mega Roulette is not a sound strategy and can quickly turn your bankroll into a zero balance. Instead, focus on making informed bets, managing your bankroll wisely, and enjoying the game for what it is.

FAQs

What is the RTP of Mega Roulette?

The overall RTP of Mega Roulette by Pragmatic is 97,30%, the same as classic European roulette. The only exception is the RTP of straight bets: it is 96,50%. This is because of the lower payout (29:1 instead of 35:1) and the multipliers. Note that this is a common thing in live roulette games with multiplier payouts.

What makes this game apart from other roulettes?

Two features distinguish this game from others. First, multiplier payouts: they can increase the regular payout of straight bets up to 500x. Second, the “Mega Bets” feature: you can place a straight bet on up to 37 numbers by clicking a single button.

Are there differences in rules between Mega Roulette and Lightning Roulette?

In both games, up to 5 numbers are selected per spin and they get a multiplier value between 50x – 500x. In addition, only straight bets pay a multiplier, and the regular payout of a straight bet is limited to 29:1. The difference between the two games lies in their gameplay features. Mega Roulette, for example, has the “Mega Bets” feature that makes it easy to place multiple straight bets.

How much straight-up pay is in Mega Roulette?

The regular straight bet in Mega Roulette pays 29:1. However, if that bet is chosen as the lucky number, this payout will be multiplied by a random value between 50x – 500x. In this case, the payout will be 49:1 – 499:1.

Are multipliers in Mega Roulette random?

Yes, multipliers in Mega Roulette are random. There is no way to know in advance which numbers will be selected and which multiplier values will be assigned to those numbers. Do not strategize on this: up to 5 random numbers will be selected per spin, and you cannot know which multiplier values will be assigned.
