36 Strategy in Roulette - Everything You Should Know

Last updated: 05.04.2024 by Andrew Shepard

The 36 strategy is a relatively new system we recently discovered from a Youtube video. With more than 1.8K likes and almost 200K views, this video became pretty popular in less than one year. When we first found out about this strategy, we were a bit sceptical. But due to the increasing popularity of the strategy, we decided to test it and see how it performs in the long term.

In a few words, the 36 strategy in roulette is a system that allows players to place various bet amounts for all numbers. As with most strategies, the 36 gathered both positive and negative reviews on Youtube. As always, before we express our honest opinion, he had to analyse how the system works and test it via multiple users and spins. This blogpost includes everything you need to know about 36.

36 Strategy: How Does the System Work

Even though the 36 roulette strategy isn’t based on a basic system like Fibonacci, it isn’t pretty easy to learn. After only a few spins, we got the hinge of it. After all, this is a system that requires certain bet sizes for all roulette numbers. The wagers are:

  • £10 on Zero
  • £130 on the first dozens column (numbers 1 to 12)
  • £30 on Six lines (numbers 13 to 18)
  • £210 on 19 to 36 (High)

The 36 Roulette Strategy: Wagering System

After placing your bets, the table should look like the image above. So, with the 36 strategy, we are placing a total amount of £380 on every round. As our system includes bets for every single number on the table, the roulette pill will definitely drop in one of our bets. The question is which one. Let’s have a look at the percentages of the four possible outcomes:

  • The ball drops on Zero: If the spin lands on zero, we lose £20. The odds of this result are 2.7%.
  • Dozens win: The 36 system requires us to bet £130 on the first dozens. The probability of this result is 32.43% on every round. Every time this happens, we have a win margin of £10.
  • Six-line wins: With just a 16.22% possibility, this is the worst-case scenario. Since we bet only £30 on these numbers, we end up losing £200 of our bankroll.
  • High (19 to 36) wins: According to mathematics, almost one out of two spins will drop on this outcome (48.65%, to be exact). When this happens, we have a total net gain of £40.

So, now that you’ve learned the odds, let’s start by having a look at a 5 rounds simulation.

5 Rounds Simulation

  • Spins 1

The first ball drops on the number 4. Since we have bet £130 on the first Dozens, we win £10.

  • Spins 2

The result is 32. Which gives us a £40 net profit. We are currently up for £50 in total.

  • Spins 3

We have a third winning spin in a row, as the ball seats on 27. We add another £40 to the total winnings (£90).

  • Spins 4

Unfortunately, our winning streak ends in the worst possible way. The ball ends up on number 17. The Six-line win isn’t good enough, as we end up losing £200. Our total count now is -£110.

  • Spins 5

In our last spin, the ball drops on 30. We won another £40. After this short test, we are down £70 in total.

Testing the 36 Roulette Strategy

Even though this test was random, the sample simply wasn’t large enough to give us safe results. To solve that, we decided to run this system for 500 spins and multiple players. To do that, we utilised the random number generator and formulas provided by Google Sheets.

To make our results even more accurate, we created 5 players and allocated a bankroll of £1000 for each one of them. The following graph showcases the individual bankroll results of the 36 strategy after 500 spins.

36 Roulette Strategy

The 36 Roulette Strategy: 500 Spins Experiment

Unfortunately, the results were as expected. For all 5 players, the final bankroll was noticeably declined. As you can see on the graph, player 2 had the most successful rounds and picked at £1750 during the first 100 rounds. But after 500 rounds, he also ended up below zero.

Players number 1 and 3 also picked at £1150 and £1040, respectively. Player number 5 never picked. After 500 rounds, all five players ended up losing their £1000.

The 36 Roulette Strategy Drawbacks

Even though our hopes were in favour of the 36 strategy, the results didn’t back us up. The reason is simple after 1.000 spins, the result will look something like this.

  • Zero results: 27 - Profit = 27*(-20) = -540
  • 1st dozen results: 324 - Profit = 324*(10) = 3240
  • Six-line results: 162 - Profit = 162*(-200) = -32400
  • High (19-36) results: 487 - Profit = 487*40 = 19480

Of course, this is nothing but the average amounts depicted by simple maths. But, in any case, the average showcases a total loss of £10.220 over 1.000 rounds. The main reason behind this average decline is the six-line bet. Every time this outcome drops, we lose a substantial amount. Finally, another disadvantage of this method is that players have to place multiple bets before the cutoff. This is quite difficult, especially for live roulette online games.

Wrap Up

After our experiment, it becomes obvious that this isn’t a very successful strategy. On the contrary, every player in our test ended up losing their entire bankroll in the long run. Of course, that doesn’t mean the 36 strategy couldn’t help you make a profit after a few rounds. As with other roulette systems we have tested, 36 is simply not successful after a long period.

Even though there are no losing combinations in this strategy, the six-line bet is definitely the system’s weak point. It is, after all, what eliminates the bankroll in the long run.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that our team couldn’t figure out how these specific bet sizes were determined by the creator of the video. In any case, you can lower all the amount proportionally without messing up with the initial idea. Of course, by doing that, the potential net gain will be significantly lower. But the same is true for possible losses.
